splitsecnd Named Top New Technology for Seniors at AARP Conference

Driving Safety Company Earns Judges' Choice at National Tech Innovation Competition

NASHVILLE, TN--(Marketwired - May 15, 2015) - splitsecnd, a portable, affordable device that works in any car to provide automatic crash notification and realtime GPS tracking, has been named the most innovative tech startup benefiting the 50+ community at the 2015 AARP Health Innovation@50+ Live Pitch.

"There are approximately 33 million licensed drivers in the U.S. who are 65 and older, and that number is growing every year as the Baby Boomer generation ages," said Mel Taylor, CEO of splitsecnd. "splitsecnd's unique set of features, affordability and portability can help aging drivers maintain independence and keep their keys longer. It provides peace-of-mind for families that their loved ones are never alone on the road."

The live pitch event took place at the AARP Life@50+ National Event at Miami, Fla., a conference expected to draw approximately 15,000 attendees. More than 225 companies across the United States initially applied to be part of the competition. That list was whittled down to ten national finalists which were then judged by a panel of leading investors and health technology experts. splitsecnd was named judges' choice.

splitsecnd is ideal for aging drivers on many fronts. It can be plugged into the 12V outlet of any vehicle, no matter the make, model, or year, and allows friends and family to monitor the location and safety of a driver from a smartphone, tablet, or computer.

In the event of a crash, the device automatically calls the dedicated splitsecnd emergency response center which ensures the driver gets help immediately. If the driver is unable to respond after a crash, splitsecnd can determine the location of the crash and send coordinates and medical information on the user to first responders, police and paramedics.

splitsecnd also includes a help button that drivers can push if they experience a health incident or feel threatened and uneasy.

splitsecnd is designed to help all drivers, from teenagers who are new to the road to aging Americans who may be experiencing more difficulty behind the wheel. For more information visit splitsecnd.com.
