Spokane veterinarian and A-1 Animal Care Veterinary Services' owner Dr. Charles Lohr announced that the animal hospital has launched a new website,

"The new website is a great resource for pet owners to learn more about the basics of pet wellness care," said Dr. Lohr. "Preventive care starts at home with the choices that pet owners make every day. The goal of our website is to provide educational information that empowers individuals to provide quality care for their pets."

The 'Veterinary Topics' library includes information on choosing a pet, bringing a pet home and tips for training a pet. There are also informational videos for at-home veterinary care, including tips on how to brush a dog's teeth. The library also includes a special section on helping pets manage chronic illnesses along with pain management for dogs and cats.

"The goal with our website is to create a resource that pet owners can turn to for advice and answers to their questions any time of the day or night," said Dr. Lohr. "We recognize that often times pet owners have questions after regular office hours, and the new website is a great resource for answers."

The website also includes an informative check-list for recognizing the early signs of illness. "Since pets can't talk, preventive care is extremely important," said Dr. Lohr. "It is essential that pet owners know how to identify the early signs of illness before a condition becomes serious or life-threatening. Pet owners also need to ensure that pet vaccinations are kept up to date."

Pet owners can also learn more about preventive care, including pet vaccinations and pet dental care, through the veterinary clinic's new blog. Dr. Lohr uses the blog to keep pet owners up-to-date on the latest in veterinary care and share tips, such as how to keep pets safe during hot weather. The animal hospital also has a bi-weekly e-newsletter.

"The blog and e-newsletter are a great way to foster a dialogue with pet owners and keep them engaged with wellness care," said Dr. Lohr. "We typically only see pet owners once or twice a year for wellness check-ups and pet dental care or if there is an emergency."

The website includes information on the services at the animal hospital, including pet dermatology, pet surgery and pain management for dogs. The vet clinic also provides senior wellness care to help dogs and cats remain active as they age.
