Sport Chek & Coast Mountain Sports Celebrate Pacific Centre Store Renovation

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - March 26, 2009) - Sport Chek and Coast Mountain Sports, corporate banners of The Forzani Group Ltd. (TSX:FGL), Canada's largest retailer of sporting goods, are pleased to announce the completed expansion and renovation of the Vancouver flagship store at Pacific Centre. The renovated store added 7,500 square feet from the connecting Pacific Centre mall allowing the main floor level Sport Chek store to occupy over 20,000+ square feet and the upper level Coast Mountain Sports store to absorb 11,500 square feet. Grand re-opening celebrations begin March 26th at 8:00 a.m. at 777 Dunsmuir Street.

The Pacific Centre combo store is added to the growing list of redesigned stores, reflecting the new design concept. Sport Chek's new concept, designed together with Parchoma & Jones Design Inc., and the construction team debuted in Newmarket, Ontario earning the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2008 Maple Leaf Award for design. The remodeled store showcases a more modern, lighter look in terms of feel and neutral finishes that are enhanced with punches of blue. Portable and versatile walls along with uninterrupted drive aisles provide a brighter open concept allowing for easier customer navigation, better representation of products and enhanced brand shops for The North Face and Columbia. The new look is anchored by a unique blue mosaic tile storefront.

The Coast Mountain Sports new design focuses on conveying a Southwest Coast influence by utilizing natural finishes with wood, grains and plants. The use of earthy attributes like stones and pebbles, raw concrete with epoxy finish, wood valencing, planking floor material and cedar fixtures added with the contemporary colour scheme modernizes the brand image. This new layout allows customers to experience a 'trail walk' around the store facilitating a great view of each brand shop and department fitted. Wooden park-like signs add to the overall ambience of the store which conveys an outdoor experience.

Customers that make a purchase during the grand re-opening between March 26th to March 30th, will receive $20 off their next $40 minimum spend purchase between March 31st and April 15th (some exceptions may apply).

"Our goal was to craft a store design that speaks to each banner's brand and product categories while creating a relative experience and ambience that demonstrates to our customers that we know who they are and what they really want," said Chris Kleine, Manager of Construction. "We've been hard at work for months in preparing for today and the whole team is very enthusiastic about welcoming customers to an innovative store that features a very well-planned layout to make finding products easier and ultimately making the consumer shopping experience engaging and memorable."

"We are excited that this major renovation improves our customers' shopping experience and the expanded offerings better serve their needs and expectations," said Lorissa Dong, Marketing & Communications Manager. "Our intent is to reinforce our commitment to the Vancouver community and our brand."
