Spotify Is the Least Loved on Social Media

While LastFM and Grooveshark Are Tops, According to Amplicate.com

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 11, 2011) - In the battle of the online music market, Spotify is lagging as social media users rank the company as their least loved Music Streaming Service.

Amplicate, an online opinion collating resource that accounts for more than 95 million public opinions of social media users, reports that there has been over 450 negative Spotify opinions (http://amplicate.com/hate/spotify) expressed on Twitter, Facebook and Amplicate within the last 3 months.

Opinions on the music database include complaints about advertising, criticism of the Spotify Premium service and comments on the limitations of the playlists. As one opinion stated, "Way to expensive to subscribe [...] as soon as you end your subscription after 3 years you still end up with nothing [...] this will just enforce downloading. If you wanna [sic] stop downloading put down the price."

Not all the opinions regarding Spotify are negative, however. One fan stated, "The selection of music is not perfect but it's good enough, even for the less commercial genres [...] I really like the new social features that have been added, particularly the ability to drop music into my friends' inboxes."

These positive opinions account for an impressive 70 percent of the ratings, though not quite enough to compete with the likes of LastFM and Grooveshark, who both scored a love percentage of above 90 percent, leaving the Spotify in the bottom spot of the Top 10 for the past 3 months.

Amplicate ranks the most discussed Music Streaming Services (http://amplicate.com/services/1464-top-music-streaming-services/) to show how the Top 10 compare against each other in terms of public love, reach and absolute number of opinions. The service also publishes rankings and real opinions for over 200 thousand topics.
