Spring Broadway Season Heats Up in March

SOUTH WINDSOR, CT--(Marketwire - Mar 9, 2012) - Broadway's spring season is kicking into high gear, as nine shows begin previews or open between now and March 31.

Coming up first, previews begin March 12 for Evita, the Broadway revival starring Ricky Martin and Elena Roger. For audiences hoping to catch other A-listers on stage, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield star in the current revival of Death of a Salesman, opening March 15.

Stage adaptations of major motion pictures are a trend this season. Entering previews on March 15 are Newsies, based on the 1992 Disney classic that featured Christian Bale, and Ghost, a musical version of the 1990 tearjerker that starred Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. Meanwhile, March 18 marks the opening of Once, adapted from the critically acclaimed 2006 Irish film.

There is even a little something for the sports fanatic this spring. Basketball buffs can catch previews for Magic/Bird, about the friendship and rivalry between NBA legends Magic Johnson and Larry Bird, starting March 21.
