Spring Into Summer Savings
Con Edison Offers Free Thermostats
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 20, 2008) - It's free, it's cool, and it's green.
Once again, Con Edison is offering free programmable thermostats to
customers with central air-conditioning.
Homeowners, religious institutions, and businesses with central
air-conditioning are eligible to join more than 20,000 customers who
already have received programmable thermostats and are taking control of
their summer electricity use. Customers save energy and stay comfortable by
using air conditioning only when it is needed.
With these high-tech thermostats, customers in New York City and
Westchester County can program their central air-conditioning systems
manually or remotely through the Internet. These programmable thermostats
allow customers to:
- Adjust cooling temperatures based on personal preferences.
- Automatically turn the air conditioner on and off.
- Use the Internet or manual override options to change the thermostat
settings.
The program also allows Con Edison to adjust the thermostats remotely to
reduce high demand on the electric system. Customers may override Con
Edison's adjustment, if necessary.
Eligible customers may obtain the programmable thermostat and free
installation by calling toll-free1-866-521-8600, or online at
