SPYRUS Announces Linux2Go(TM) and Linux2Go Xtreme as Latest Member of the SPYRUS USB 3.0 Live Drive Product Line Designed for Mobile Security

Compact USB 3.0 SSD Features Hardware Encryption and Optional Read Only and Cross Domain Security to Support Unique Features Such as Bare Metal Boot, Bare Metal Cloud, and Multiple Operating Environments

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwired - Mar 2, 2016) - SPYRUS, Inc. today announced the SPYRUS Linux2Go and Linux2Go Xtreme drives which extend its high assurance secure mobility solutions to the Linux™ developer and penetration testing communities. SPYRUS drives incorporate the most advanced encryption and security features of the award winning SPYRUS Windows To Go family, with memory capacities starting at 32 GB to the newly announced 1 TB configuration only available from SPYRUS. Linux2Go, by booting the operating system and applications directly from the hardware encrypted device, delivers mobility and security in a compact package to organizations that rely on high performance advanced applications running on Linux. One notable example is the bare-metal cloud which has emerged as a way to deliver virtualized services with a dedicated Linux2Go based server environment. The bare metal Linux2Go server does not need to run a hypervisor and eliminates the processing overhead of a virtual machine while adding security and the flexibility. The Linux2Go Xtreme carries the innovation forward supporting multiple profiles to permit execution in multiple domains with cryptographically separated operating environments.

"With the launch of the family of Linux2Go products, SPYRUS has extended its repertoire of PKI based authentication, storage, and encryption technologies, cryptographic separation, and secure boot operations to the Linux community to provide a much needed layer of security for a multitude of use cases," said Burton Tregub, Vice President Corporate Development, SPYRUS, Inc. "There is no other device on the market that provides hardware-based security and identity key protection as a personal security device for either Windows or Linux. Bring Your Own Keys is finally a reality that gives organizations and individuals total control of their keys while securely using the public cloud to store, retrieve, and share their sensitive data."

SPYRUS Linux2Go drives combine Secured by SPYRUS™ security technologies, including XTS AES-256 encryption, FIPS 140-2 Level 3 certified PKI services supporting both RSA and elliptic curve cryptography, and hardware-enabled read only mode packaged in a compact, rugged USB 3.0 housing. Powerful high capacity Linux2Go live drives support multiple business use cases such as protection of high value or sensitive data from content developers for the entertainment market, to geoscientists who need to visualize large 3D subsurface seismic data sets for mineral exploration by protecting data at rest if the drives should be lost or stolen. SPYRUS drives also boost productivity when dealing with limited or no network connectivity because users can work offline with large data sets protected with military grade security. SPYRUS Linux2Go configured for hardware read-only mode can also add security advantages to VDI and "Desktop as a Service" environments by transforming almost any Windows, Linux or MacBook computer into a secure thin client workstation.

The Linux2Go Xtreme version drive also includes PKI smart card support on its FIPS 140-2 Level 3 validated EAL 5+ Rosetta® Micro security controller. The embedded Rosetta Micro can be used with digital certificates and shared among multiple domains or multiple users whether or not the Xtreme is booted. The onboard Rosetta Micro module contains the SPYRUS Cryptographic Operating System (SPYCOS®) employing elliptic curve cryptography algorithms including ECC key lengths to P-521 and RSA, which provide highly secure authentication, identity and key protection, and storage as a hardware root of trust.

Use cases for SPYRUS Linux2Go Xtreme drives with multiple processing environments allow up to four users to share a single device with their own unique cryptographically protected access to their individual user profiles, such as a 24x7 help desk scenario. In addition, users can have multiple different operating systems provisioned on a Linux2Go Xtreme for use with different applications. Or, a system administrator managing multiple networks spanning different administrative domains can use a different profile for managing each network. And further, users can potentially use a specific profile for multi-domain access to different levels of data classification.
