SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 13, 2012) - Square, the company revolutionizing everyday transactions between buyers and sellers, announced today that political organizations can mobilize their campaign staff and empower them to accept credit and debit card contributions on their mobile device on behalf of their organization.
Political organizations authorize individual staff members to accept payments on behalf of their campaign from their Square account. Once staff members sign up, they download the free Square Card Reader app and receive a free card reader. When staff members collect payments, funds are deposited in the campaign's bank account the next business day.
Campaigns can ensure FEC compliance by easily collecting the required information within the app during the contribution process. They can also add and manage staff and create detailed reports on fundraising progress and contributor information by visiting the Dashboard in their Square account.
"Whether Republican or Democrat, running for president or local assembly, Square makes it easier than ever for candidates and their organizations to fundraise for their cause," said Dana Wagner, general counsel and head of government relations at Square.
Square is the easiest way to accept credit and debit cards. The Square Card Reader plugs into the headphone jack of an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, and allows for safe and secure credit card payments through a free downloadable app. The sign-up process takes 2-3 minutes.
The election campaigns of President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney both announced in January that their staff and volunteers would be able to accept campaign contributions using Square.
