St Andrew Announces Appointment of Claude Schimper as Vice-President-Timmins Operations

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 31, 2006) - St Andrew Goldfields Ltd ("St Andrew") (TSX:SAS) is very pleased to announce the appointment of a key position in the Company's management team.

Vice-President - Timmins Operations

Claude Schimper has been appointed Vice-President - Timmins Operations, effective November 1, 2006, for the Company's mining activities in the Timmins Mining Camp, Ontario. Claude was previously Mine Manager of the Company's Stock Gold Complex near Timmins, Ontario. He has over 20 years experience in senior management positions in the mining industry. Prior to joining St Andrew in 2004, he was Regional Manager, Redpath Contracting, Sudbury and before that he was a Project Manager with Placer Dome at Campbell Red Lake, Musselwhite and the Dome Mine at Timmins.

In his new position Claude will be based in Matheson, Ontario and will be responsible for all aspects of the Holloway - Holt Gold Mine and Stock Gold Complex activities. St Andrew intends to appoint Mine Managers for each of Holloway-Holt and Stock Gold Complex who will report directly to Mr. Schimper.

In his new role Claude Schimper will report directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer of St Andrew.

St Andrew (TSX:SAS) is a gold mining and exploration company producing gold from its Stock Gold Complex in Timmins, Ontario and with gold production from its Nixon Fork Property in Alaska scheduled to commence in November of 2006. The Company is focused on gold exploration, development and mining in major gold mining regions in stable political environments throughout the world. Additionally, on September 18, 2006, St Andrew announced that it had entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire the Holloway-Holt gold mining and exploration assets from Newmont Canada Limited.
