ST. CATHARINES - OFL CAMPAIGN TO EXPOSE & OPPOSE P3s

SAVE OUR PUBLIC SERVICES REGIONAL WORKSHOP Attention: Assignment Editor, Media Editor, News Editor, Government/Political Affairs Editor TORONTO--(CCNMatthews - April 11, 2006) - "People need to hold the government to its pledge to steer clear of public-private partnerships," said Wayne Samuelson president of the 700,000-member Ontario Federation of Labour. For the month of April the OFL is conducting workshops in 19 cities and towns across Ontario to prepare local union activists to stop the McGuinty government's schemes to erode and privatize every aspect of Ontario's public services.

"This is a campaign to save our public services," Samuelson said. "All of our public services will be affected if these privatization schemes are allowed to continue. We're talking about the negative impact on education and schools, health care, roads, postal services - even meat inspection and food safety."

OFL president Wayne Samuelson and Sue Hotte, president of the St. Catharines and District Labour Council are holding a news conference during the workshop to outline the campaign and labour's response to the government's privatization schemes.

The news conference is being held at:
