St. John Ambulance Challenges the City of Toronto

Full Day at Nathan Phillips Square to Kick off the St. John Ambulance Safety Challenge

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - July 17, 2007) - St. John Ambulance, Toronto Branch, a non profit organization that advocates for the health and safety of all Canadians, will launch the "St. John Ambulance Safety Challenge" with a full day of activities at Nathan Phillips Square on Monday, July 23, 2007.

The first day of the week long challenge will include a centre stage presentation of the importance of First Aid and CPR training, numerous demonstrations on life saving skills and various information stations on topics such as car seat safety, Automated External Defibrillators and a safety fun zone for children, in an effort to educate Torontonians on the subject of health and safety. "These activities are vital to informing the city of Toronto the significance of learning life saving skills. Many accidents that occur can easily be averted, if people were equipped with the proper training," says Richard Bowden, Executive Director of St. John Ambulance, Toronto Branch. The challenge will also include interactive activities, in which individuals can learn and practice first aid and CPR techniques.

The week long launch runs from Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27. The subsequent days of the challenge week, St. John Ambulance will be at various key locations across the city demonstrating and promoting the essential skills of first aid and CPR. Blood pressure booths will also be set up in areas across Toronto. "We want to provide our city with the necessary tools to become the safest city in Canada. The more people that become involved with the challenge and are subsequently trained in first aid and CPR, the safer the people of Toronto can feel about their city," says Richard.
