St. John Dentist Undergoes Advanced Training in Dental Implants

ST. JOHN, IN--(Marketwired - December 31, 2015) - Dr. Scott Kapers, who operates two Northern Indiana dental offices, recently attended continuing education courses on advanced dental implant placement.
Dr. Kapers' office, Creating Smiles, offers dental implants for patients missing teeth or to secure dentures. Dental implants, which are made from titanium, act as a root for a natural-looking crown or restoration.

"Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth that we can offer, and we can restore them with a variety of options," Dr. Kapers said. "Patients struggling with missing teeth or those who are tired of their slippery dentures are ideal candidates for dental implants. I'm a huge proponent of dental implants because they give patients back their smile and chewing ability."

The hands-on implant training course was held in Pennsylvania on Nov. 20 and gives Dr. Kapers the tools to treat patients in need of dental implants to restore their mouth. Specifically, Dr. Kapers trained in All-on-4 dental implants, an implant method that helps restore entire arches of missing teeth.

The All-on-4 dental implants are designed to give patients optimal support, and the upper restoration is open, allowing the patient to experience more tastes and hot and cold sensations. Dr. Kapers said patients with All-on-4 dental implants find they can again eat the food they love.

"One of the biggest problems with removable dentures is that you cannot eat what you want. There are so many restrictions, which ultimately makes it difficult to get the nutrition you need to live a healthy life," Dr. Kapers said. "With All-on-4 dental implants, all the foods you love are back on the menu."

Creating Smiles is a two-office practice that provides comprehensive dental services to children and adult patients. Dr. Kapers focuses on sedation dentistry and implant dentistry. He provides dental implants to stabilize dentures and to replace individual missing teeth. Most of Dr. Kapers' dedicated staff have been with him for more than 15 years.

Dr. Kapers earned his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. He started Creating Smiles in 1993 and has completed hundreds of hours in continuing education. He offers comprehensive dentistry services, including dental implants and sedation options for fearful patients or those who need multiple dental treatments. Dr. Kapers received training in Botox and dermal fillers from the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists for dental implants.

Dr. Kapers' associate, Dr. Ornelas, also earned his dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Ornelas, a Crown Point native, received his Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University.

The Creating Smiles St. John location, 8217 Wicker Ave., is open from Monday through Saturday. The Valparaiso location, 2262 Morthland Dr., is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
