St. Pancras Renaissance Named 'Hotel of the Year' and Receives Honors for 'Refurbishment of the Year'

5 Star Luxury Hotel in London Claims Coveted European Hospitality Awards at 2011 Ceremony

LONDON--(Marketwire - Nov 21, 2011) - Acclaimed for setting a new benchmark in hotel standards across Europe, the St. Pancras Renaissance luxury hotel of London received the coveted "Hotel of the Year" Award at the European Hospitality Awards ceremony held recently in London. The Renaissance, a magnificent 5 star hotel in London, also claimed honors for "Refurbishment of the Year", topping steep competition from the newly renovated Savoy Hotel London and Soho House Berlin.

Held annually to recognize all hotels in Europe that have made an exceptional contribution to the world of hospitality, this year's presentation of awards came during a ceremony held November 4, 2011 at The Landmark Hotel in London.

"We are thrilled and honored to have won these two amazing awards," said Renaissance General Manager Kevin Kelly, who was shortlisted for Hotelier of the Year. "The refurbishment of this iconic building has been a long time in the making and we are delighted that all of the efforts have been acknowledged."

The St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel near Camden Town celebrated its grand opening May 5, 2011 following an extensive renovation by Manhattan Loft Corporation. The original building, which hailed as The Midland Grand Hotel, was designed and built by the foremost Victorian architect Sir George Gilbert Scott and opened exactly 138 years earlier on May 5, 1873. The £150 million renovation of the 245-room hotel consists of the historic St. Pancras Chambers, which accommodates 38 elegant and spacious Victorian bedrooms and luxury London hotel suites, the iconic Grand Staircase and the "Ladies Smoking Room" and Barlow House, a newly created 120,000 square feet extension that features original artwork and contemporary design.

More than 200 industry professionals, including architects, designers and hotel owners attended the European Hospitality Awards ceremony.
