St. Petersburg, Florida Resort to Reminisce of Yesteryear During 'Day of Discovery'

ST. PETERSBURG, FL--(Marketwired - Jun 23, 2014) - Bringing the joy of discovery to its guests, one of the well-known luxury hotels in St. Petersburg, FL is hosting a "Day of Discovery" on June 26 that will include reminiscent stories of the hotel's colorful past, local brewery tours, fine food, music and the presentation of an exclusive new ale.

The Vinoy^® Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club is joining with 155 Renaissance lodging properties around the world in the hotel brand's third annual "Global Day of Discovery" aimed at inspiring guests to "Live Life to Discover." Focusing attention on early beginnings of the historic property, guests are invited to discover the excitement of the area's 19^th century heritage, when "Paul's Landing" was but a small beach surrounded by temporary barracks and the planting of an orange grove brought hope of prosperity.

Inspired to delve into the St. Petersburg, Florida luxury hotel's unique past by the recent visit of a former employee, The Vinoy^® will again be treated by a visit from Hallie Fedowich, who worked in the main dining room of the hotel for the 1959 season, January through April. Sharing tales of the past, the 84-year-old former employee recalls the fine and meticulous service that was expected, and the ruby and crystal goblets, along with china and silver that the "Pink Palace" was once noted for.

In addition to historic memorabilia and verbal recollections from Mrs. Fedowich, The Vinoy^® will unveil a new chef-crafted beer created especially for the occasion and also invites guests to hop on The Brew Bus for a "Brews of the Burg" tour that will include 3 Daughters Brewing, St. Pete Brewing Company and Cycle Brewing before the Florida hotel's "Day of Discovery" culminates with its own "Brew Bash" from 6 to 8 p.m. and unveiling of the new beer. The evening reception will be held inside the hotel located on the 114-acre landmark resort, and the three, four-hour tours around St. Petersburg, are scheduled to begin at noon, 12:30 p.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Working with 3 Daughters Brewing in St. Petersburg to create a craft beer that reflects the Florida hotel's flavored history, The Vinoy^® "Day of Discovery" is sure to leave a lasting impression regarding the past, present and future of one of the area's pristine vacation resorts. As events unfold guests will be treated to music mix instruction from Scratch DJ Academy, who will also provide entertainment for the occasion. There is no admission fee for the evening "Brew Bash" at Marchand's Bar & Grill inside the hotel, however a $20 fee will be charged for the "Brews of the Burg" tour.
