Stack Announces New A19 LED Light Bulb and BR30 Availability

Company's Signature Series Downlight Publicly Available Today for $60

CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 5, 2016) - Stack Lighting, the technology leader behind the world's first responsive lighting solutions for homes and buildings, today announced the Stack Classic light bulb -- an A19, the most common bulb size in most households -- as the next format addition to the company's smart lighting portfolio.

In addition, smart home and lighting enthusiasts can now order Stack's Downlight (BR30 format) for recessed cans via stacklighting.com. The Starter Kit, which includes two Downlights and a hub, is available for $150. Additional lights are available for $60 per bulb, making Stack's feature-rich bulbs a great solution for both large and small dwellings.

Stack's innovative light bulbs are each equipped with embedded sensors, which enable the lights to dynamically react to ambient light and occupancy. Both the Classic and Downlight run on open IoT standards and can help expand the capabilities of other compatible smart home devices, including Nest's learning thermostat and devices working with IFTTT.

"With the launch of the Downlight and upcoming Classic formats, Stack continues to push the envelope by creating lighting solutions that combine the best of hardware and software, and delivering on the promise of a truly smart and responsive home," said Neil Joseph, Founder & CEO of Stack. "Since lights are the most common electronic device, they can play a unique role as the sensor backbone for our homes and buildings. We've made it our mission to give consumers not only a better lighting experience and product, but also a software platform that makes your other smart home devices even smarter. Stack lights expand the realm of possibilities for what the home of the future can be."

For the past several months, beta users across the U.S. have had the Downlight in their homes and experiencing first-hand the transformative nature of the bulb's responsive technology. For example, one beta user stated that "the ease of use is second to none, and the use of IFTTT allows non-tech people the opportunity to easily integrate their homes without outside assistance." Another beta user noted, "I can really feel the difference circadian lighting makes -- having the lights dim themselves as the day goes on and function as a nightlight in the evening has helped me sleep better and made late night trips to the restroom a less dreadful event."
