Stacks and Stacks Organizes Higher Online Sales With Hacker Safe Certification

NAPA, CA--(Marketwire - July 12, 2007) - HACKER SAFE® certification has become "a must-have for anyone serious about online retailing success," according to Stacks and Stacks Marketing Director Cathy McManus. Her comments follow a comprehensive evaluation of ScanAlert's HACKER SAFE data security service during which it increased's website conversion 5.7%.

Stacks and Stacks, No. 293 on the 2007 Internet Retailer Top 500 list, has been a well known source for storage, organization, and home furnishings for more than two decades. Always looking to improve site operations and profitability, McManus wanted to test how site visitors reacted to the appearance of the HACKER SAFE trustmark. To do this, she selected an A/B split test methodology, in which half of the site visitors saw the HACKER SAFE image, while the control group did not.

"While our technical staff really liked the security benefits of daily audits, I was obviously far more interested in seeing what sort of conversion increase we might get," McManus recalls. "I'd seen the image on dozens of websites, including those of many of our competitors, so I wanted to see what would happen with our own customer demographic."

During the test period, Stacks and Stacks received 2,407 total orders, of which 67 (5.73%) more orders came from those who had seen the HACKER SAFE image.

"I think the major benefit to our site is that it makes us more credible in the eyes of consumers who constantly hear about identity and credit card theft," McManus concludes. "Because our security is tested and certified every day to the HACKER SAFE standard, people feel far more comfortable buying from us."

"Stacks and Stacks competes against some very large national chain stores so it needs to be nimble maximizing conversion rates and the ROI of its PPC budgets," added Nigel Ravenhill, Director of Marketing Communications, ScanAlert. "The A/B test clearly showed that ready-to-buy consumers strongly prefer to purchase on a HACKER SAFE certified site."

HACKER SAFE is the world's most widely used assurance of Internet security. Using its proprietary technology, ScanAlert conducts daily security audits to certify clients to the HACKER SAFE standard. Websites meeting the standard can then promote their certified security to site visitors by placing the HACKER SAFE certification trustmark on their sites. As long as the standard is met, ScanAlert continues to serve a date-stamped image from its network to the site.
