Staff at Las Vegas Extended-Stay Hotel Honored for Public Service

Destination Sales Executive Steve Speach Presented With Commander's Award

LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwire - Jun 18, 2012) - It's not often that ordinary citizens get to show their appreciation to those who serve the country. So when Steve Speach, Destination Sales Executive at this hotel near Las Vegas airport, had the opportunity to help, he went above and beyond the call of duty, earning him the Commander's Award for Public Service.

Speach, on staff at the SpringHill Suites Las Vegas Convention Center, was presented with the award on April 13, 2012 by Stephen J. Sanderson, Deputy Director, Public Affairs, U.S. Army. Speach was recognized for his generosity, selfless service and corporate financial sacrifice on behalf of the United States Army, who were hosting overseas members for training at a nearby facility.

When the military servicemen and women tried to book accommodations at this Las Vegas extended-stay hotel, there were none available. Rather than turn them away, Speach and his team discovered that pre-arranged events had filled up the rooms, and went to task analyzing what could be done to open some up. Speach expedited repairs on suites that were on hold for maintenance and was able to offer accommodations to the Army members.

Speach's support and service is a reflection of his own character, as well as the vision of his team, this hotel near the Las Vegas Convention Center and the entire Marriott organization.

The military servicemen and women were able to stay in some of the largest Las Vegas hotel suites, with 25% more space the comparably priced accommodations in the area. The smart and stylish suites feature the latest technology, including free-high-speed Internet access and 37-inch HDTVs, as well as home-like touches such as a well-lit desk and a pantry with microwave and small fridge.

After a long day of training, the men and women were able to retreat to their suites and order room service, spend some time relaxing at the heated rooftop pool, take the complimentary shuttle to The Strip or grab a cocktail and something to eat at the hotel's Palettes Gallery and Bistro, hosting free happy hour Sunday through Thursday and complimentary breakfast each morning.
