Stamp Duty Explained

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - June 21, 2012) - Stamp Duty is a tax charged on land and property transactions in the UK.

When you purchase property in the UK, whether homes for sale in Kent or in any part of the country, the change in land ownership must be legally registered with the Land Registry; requiring a certificate from HMRC.

This certificate will only be issued once the stamp duty (or Stamp Duty Land Tax to give it its full title) due on the purchase of the property has been paid. If you can't pay the Stamp Duty, you won't be able to purchase your new home.

Ward Homes Stamp Duty Offer

Legally, it must be the purchaser of the property who pays the Stamp Duty on the purchase. However, when opting to purchase property for sale in East Sussex, Kent or Medway from Ward Homes you may find a little help with the Stamp Duty payment.

When purchasing from Ward Homes they'll pay the Stamp Duty for you, simply sending a cheque to your solicitor for the full amount on completion of purchase.
