Stamps.com Automatically Updated With New Discounted Priority Mail Rates

EL SEGUNDO, CA--(Marketwired - Sep 8, 2014) - Stamps.com® (NASDAQ: STMP), the leading provider of USPS postage online and shipping software to approximately 500,000 customers, today announced that its software is now updated with the newest USPS Priority Mail® rates that went into effect yesterday.

While the USPS Priority Mail rates increased for some shipping weights and zones at the Post Office, prices decreased for customers who buy postage online. This Stamps.com update ensures that customers are able to seamlessly transition to the newly discounted Priority Mail rates, and can easily calculate and print postage for their Flat Rate Envelopes and packages. The automatic update is free for all Stamps.com customers.

"The lower USPS Priority Mail rates offer a unique opportunity for shippers to lower their fulfillment costs in Q4," said Ken McBride, chairman and CEO of Stamps.com. "With the new discounts, Priority Mail has now become an even more attractive option for Stamps.com customers, particularly for shippers sending heavier weight packages up to 25 lbs."

Highlights of the September 2014 Priority Mail rate adjustments include:

  • For customers who purchase postage online (such as through Stamps.com), the Priority Mail rate decrease is as much as 55% off previous prices. Discounts are focused on packages weighing between 5 and 26 lbs. traveling to Shipping Zones 1 through 5.
  • Regional Rate Box C also offers lower rates for packages traveling from Zones 1 through Zone 5.
  • Priority Mail Flat Rate products are not seeing any price adjustments for postage purchased online.
  • For customers who purchase postage at the Post Office, the Priority Mail rates are increasing by approximately 3% for packages weighing between 1 and 4 lbs.
  • Priority Mail continues to be a great option for e-commerce sellers. The USPS provides free shipping supplies, up to $100 of free insurance and delivery generally takes 2-3 days anywhere across the entire country.
