Standout Jobs, Inc. Announces $1.5 Million Financing

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - June 4, 2007) - Standout Jobs, Inc. ("Standout Jobs"), a new startup in the recruiting and online job market space, has announced CDN$1.5-million of seed and angel financing from leading Canadian venture fund Garage Technology Ventures Canada and Brudder Ventures, the angel investment firm of Canadian entrepreneur Austin Hill. The funds will be used to develop the product and service offering, along with building out a core team.

Standout Jobs helps companies develop and promote their recruiting and employment brand. The goal is to improve the way companies find and hire the best talent. Standout Jobs will use social media tools, including video, social networking, blogging and widgets to aid companies in their recruiting processes.

"We're thrilled to be working with Garage Technology Ventures Canada, and eager to move quickly," said Benjamin Yoskovitz, chief executive officer and founder of Standout Jobs. "There are many significant changes occurring in how the Internet affects recruiting and hiring. Having a partner with the resources of Garage, including their unique Silicon Valley connections, helps us execute quickly, and that's a huge advantage for Standout Jobs."

Hiring great talent is one of the biggest challenges companies face. And too often, it's not given the attention it deserves.

"After spending 15 years recruiting talent for hundreds of positions at my various companies I know personally that there is a lot of room for innovation in how companies recruit. Standout Jobs is building the service I always wished I had to help me recruit" said Austin Hill, who co-founded the company with Ben Yoskovitz and Fred Ngo.

"Hiring the best people needs to be an ongoing, constant effort, where companies show candidates why they're a great place to work. Every company has a story, but too few companies tell theirs well, or at all. Social media technologies allow companies to tell their stories with new tools and in new ways," said company co-founder Ben Yoskovitz.

Tom Sweeney, Co-founder and Managing Director at Garage Technology Ventures Canada said, "Corporations of all sizes are increasingly making use of online tools to improve the efficiency of their spend in human resource development; particularly in the talent acquisition and talent management sectors. Standout Jobs has a great product strategy with a clear vision of where the talent acquisition segment needs to go and how the job market in general can be drastically improved. They've also got a founding team that we're particularly excited to work with."

Standout Jobs will be launching its service in the Fall of 2007. A preview of the service is currently available at (
