Stanford Athletics Counts Down Clock to Stadium Opening

Caltrain Advertising Campaign Launches 100-Day Countdown

STANFORD, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- June 9, 2006 -- On Monday, June 12, Stanford Athletics will officially count down the clock to the Grand Opening of the new Stanford Stadium scheduled for September 16. To commence the 100-day countdown, Stanford Athletics' Marketing will launch a three-month advertising campaign with Caltrain to promote the new Stanford Stadium and 2006 Football season ticket sales.

The "rolling" three-car billboard will depart at 8:25 a.m. and travel 95-miles roundtrip from San Francisco to San Jose, stopping at 29 stations. The 8,700 square foot advertisement will be exposed to nearly 8.2 million viewers each month, including Caltrain's riders and countless others who are traveling up and down the San Francisco peninsula.

On Monday morning, members of Stanford Athletics' sales and marketing team will distribute Stanford football collateral as passengers board the train in San Francisco, Palo Alto and San Jose.

"We are excited to launch our Caltrain rolling billboards in conjunction with our 100-day countdown," said Bob Carruesco, Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing. "We believe this portion of the marketing campaign is a unique opportunity that breaks through the clutter of more traditional advertising channels. All in all, it's another vehicle for us to build awareness of the new stadium and momentum in season tickets sales."

Stanford Stadium Web Site Receives Face Lift

In addition to the Caltrain ad, the Stanford Stadium Management Team will launch a refreshed web site in which visitors of stanfordstadium.com will experience new features and a customized user interface.

The face lift calls for a new and improved home page, improved navigation to secondary and tertiary pages, and customized pages targeting specific market segments such as students, alumni, faculty/staff, families and corporate groups. Additionally, visitors can review the latest stadium developments in the new Stadium Spotlight section, which will be centrally located on the home page.
