Star Micronics Partners With ScriptRx

Prescription Printers Will Integrate With Electronic Medical Records Software

EDISON, NJ--(Marketwire - Apr 18, 2012) - Star Micronics America, a leading worldwide manufacturer of point of service printers, has announced their partnership with ScriptRx.

ScriptRx, a leader in touch screen electronic medical record (EMR) systems for the healthcare industry is now utilizing the TSP800IIRx printers from Star for its customers in emergency rooms and urgent care centers. The printers will be integrated with ScriptRx's new tablet (iPad®) based EMR system.

The TSP800IIRx prints prescriptions using the latest EMR software in the industry. It is capable of printing 37 prescriptions per minute and features a locking mechanism to secure any sensitive roll of paper. The TSP800IIRx is a wide-format POS printer and is the only one on the market that provides printing on 3" to 4.4" wide paper.

The built-in prescription writing functionality within the ScriptRx EMR software makes prescription writing fast, easy and secure, while offering the option to print and/or E-prescribe to a pharmacy of the patient's choice. The EMR software offers a fully-featured tool for rapidly and accurately creating and printing prescriptions and will take advantage of Star's new wireless prescription printing feature.

"Urgent care centers and emergency rooms are fast-paced, high patient volume environments that demand speed and reliability from their electronic medical record systems," stated Tim Coffield, CEO of ScriptRx. "Star's TSP800IIRx gives us the quality and durability that will hold-up under these demanding conditions. The printer's wireless functionality will be embraced by urgent care operators who will not have to equip each exam room with computer hardware, as they will use ScriptRx's EMR on their iPads® and transport the wireless prescription printer from room-to-room."

"Our partnership with ScriptRx will provide urgent care centers and emergency departments with the ability to print prescriptions for patients quickly and easily," stated Christophe Naasz, Director of Marketing at Star Micronics. "The secure and locking feature of the TSP800IIRx is specifically important for many doctors and patients, and will be a great addition to the ScriptRx EMR system."
