Star Navigation Presents at "Expert Dialogue on Real-time Monitoring of Flight Data, including the Black Box" Conference in Malaysia

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 2, 2014) - Star Navigation Systems Group Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SNA)(OTCBB:SNAVF) ("Star" or the "Company") announces that it recently accepted an invitation from the Malaysian Minister of Communications and Multimedia, and the International Telecommunication Union ("ITU"), to attend the Expert Dialogue on Real-time Monitoring of Flight Data Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, May 26 and 27.

The conference was convened following the recent International Civil Aviation Organization ("ICAO") meetings in Montreal, which the Company also attended. Organized in response to the complex investigation into the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, the ICAO meetings addressed the matter of how modern technologies could help put in place a more efficient system for worldwide tracking and monitoring of aircraft.

Under ICAO guidance, and hosted by the Malaysian Minister of Communications and Multimedia, over 50 industry experts from all over the world including official representatives of many countries, regulatory bodies, airlines (IATA) and the industry in general, including Airbus and Boeing, were invited. In addition, innovative new companies such as Star Navigation, met in Kuala Lumpur to review and comment on available technologies and their implementation, so that aircraft can actually and efficiently be tracked, increasing the safety of all passengers.

The Star STAR-A.D.S.™ system already provides accurate, continuous tracking information, relayed through satellite, through minute by minute "heart beats", giving position, altitude, speed and heading of an aircraft to the airline's operations center, in addition to real time Black Box flight data streaming.

Mr. Amir Bhatti, P. Eng., Star's Chief of Technology and a former Certified Aircraft Accident Investigator and Flight Safety Specialist, delivered a presentation entitled "Real Time Flight Data Monitoring, Tracking and Communication". He expanded on Star's views and the benefits of real time streaming of Flight data. The presentation was well received by the selected audience of experts, and was followed by several specific discussions with attending airlines and various representatives of attending institutions, as well as the Minister, Ahmad Shabery Cheek, who said:

"Malaysia is pleased to be able to host this meeting as the outcome may potentially bring a positive change to the aviation industry."

Mr. Viraf Kapadia, CEO of Star, said:

"We are understandably pleased with the response to the presentation made at the conference by our Chief of Technology. Our flagship product, the STAR-A.D.S.™ system, precisely addresses the concerns of those hosting the Conference and it addresses them today, not in 2020. Aside from the Safety and Search and Rescue ("SAR") considerations, our system offers fuel management and other operational enhancement benefits that can make the installation of the System a revenue positive one."

Star looks forward to attending the Aircraft Tracking Task Force, (planned at the Kuala Lumpur conference), which will meet in Montreal on the 11th and 12th days of this month, and trust that results will be generated in an expeditious manner.
