STARC Adopts Simucad PDK for Analog Design Flow

SANTA CLARA, CA and YOKOHAMA, JAPAN -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 22, 2006 -- The Semiconductor Technology Research Academic Center (STARC) and Simucad Design Automation Inc. (Simucad) today announced the availability of their jointly developed Process Design Kit (PDK) for analog design to the customers of STARC's 90nm LSI prototype manufacturing service named "Star Shuttle."

The Star Shuttle is the first 90nm standard process-based prototype manufacturing service in Japan and was established with financial support from five leading semiconductor companies (Fujitsu, Matsushita Electric Industrial, NEC Electronics, Renesas Technology, and Toshiba). These five companies started prototype manufacturing in October 2003, and in October 2005, STARC became the only contact point. Many universities and industrial customers use this service for the various purposes of research and development. By developing the PDK and introducing it into the Star Shuttle, STARC demonstrated that the users of the service are able to improve their analog/digital design efficiency dramatically by using PDK methodology as compared to any other legacy manual design approach.
