Stars Coming to Support Program Launch

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 22, 2010) - Tanner Glass, left winger for the Vancouver Canucks, and Colin Ainsworth, currently starring in the Vancouver Opera's production of Lillian Alling will be joining forces to support the successful launch of an innovative arts program through which Grade 7 children from Britannia Elementary Community School highlight their creativity. The program is launched in partnership between the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre Company and DAREarts, a non-profit charity that uses the arts to "ignites change" in young Canadians.

Each day this week, through the support of the Canucks Family Education Centre, the children examined language and its role in storytelling, as well as how dance, movement and the use of visual symbols can emulate one's deepest reactions to one's own emotions. The children created their own performance piece grounded in the script of The Fantasticks. They also painted four 4'x4' murals that are accented by their self explored dramatic and artistic interpretation of the question "What is Love?"

The performance piece and the murals will be showcased in the lobby of the Vancouver Playhouse on October 23rd at 1:30 pm. Press are invited to share this incredible experience.

This project has been generously sponsored by Opus Framing and Art Supplies and DAREarts generous sponsors, including Lead Sponsor Lombard Canada.
