Where: Vintage Innovations' Innovation Station, 300 Pressler St., Austin, Texas

The team behind the popular Austin Startup Games is back with the first-ever Startup Games: Level Up, a day of fun competitive events featuring local mid-sized businesses raising money for charity.

"Sometimes it's hard to grow up," said Gillian Wilson, co-founder and president of Startup Games. "When your roots are in the startup world, it can be hard to keep things fun as you grow. We're here to make sure these companies still have some fun."

In addition to adding a new level of companies in 2015, the Startup Games organization is also excited to announce it is expanding to host events in San Antonio, New York City and Chicago this year. The vision continues to be to add more cities, eventually going international and raising $1 million for charity.

Like the Startup Games, Austin Level Up will be single-day showdown of wits, speed and determination as teams from Bigcommerce, BuildASign.com, Drilling Info, HomeAway, Main Street Hub and RetailMeNot battle it out in events including whiffle ball, dodge ball, foosball, trivia, ping pong and Mario Kart. Winning teams will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals with the top team earning the largest amount of money for their charities.

The event also will feature the popular CEO competition with company execs going up against each other in a game of Liar's Dice.

All competing teams play on behalf of a non-profit organization of their choosing, preferably for a cause that has significant collective meaning to their team. Each non-profit is guaranteed to receive a portion of money raised, with the largest percentage going to charities represented by the first and second place teams.

The current field of startup teams, including each company's respective choice of charity:

BuildASign.com, Main Street Hub and RetailMeNot previously competed before growing beyond the Startup Games size limits. The Level Up Games are open to companies with 250-1,000 employees.

The opening ceremonies of Austin Level Up Games will kick off at 12:45 p.m. CST. Registration begins at 12:00 p.m. at the Vintage Innovations Innovation Station located at 300 Pressler St. Members of the general public are encouraged to join in the fun with a suggested $10 charitable donation, which will be distributed to the charitable organizations represented, and a canned good for the Capital Area Food Bank.
