Startup Georgia Launches to Support Young Companies Throughout the State

New Statewide Entrepreneurship Advocate Group to Host Launch Event at The Biltmore in Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - Feb 15, 2013) -  Startup Georgia, a statewide effort led by entrepreneurs to support the growth of startups throughout Georgia, will officially launch in Atlanta on Monday, February 18th at a kickoff event at Startup Rally at The Biltmore in Atlanta. Startup Georgia is the latest Startup Region collaborating with the Startup America Partnership, the national movement focused on providing startups access to the investors, services, corporations and customers that help young companies grow and create jobs.

"Given its unique business, research and diverse environments, Georgia is poised to unleash its potential to become a national leader in startup creation, economic growth, and job creation," said Christopher V. Cook, Chairman of the Startup Georgia organizing team.

"There are a tremendous number of resources in Georgia to help startups grow, but finding the right ones is remarkably overwhelming," stated Marshall Seese, CEO of Mowgli Games. "It's exciting to see entrepreneurs from across the state in a variety of verticals come together to help solve this problem through Startup Georgia."

Startup Georgia will leverage state and local resources, along with Startup America's national network, to help Georgia's entrepreneurs gain access to business resources throughout the state and country, enabling them to grow faster, be more competitive and add more jobs. Over 350 entrepreneurs have already joined Startup Georgia to support startups statewide.

"Focusing on high-growth startups is a smart strategy for Georgia to grow its economy," said Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership. "Startup Georgia will provide a state-wide network to help the local entrepreneurs building the next great success story to access the opportunities and resources unique to the state."

"Atlanta is home to some of the best universities and colleges in the nation and we believe we should keep that talent in Atlanta," explains Scott Henderson, Executive Director of Hypepotamus, "The next great wave of Georgia companies are being built today and it's up to those of us in the startup community to create massive awareness of what we're doing to help Georgia's economy."
