Startup Indiana Kicks Off With Launch Party Hosted by Verge

INDIANAPOLIS, IN--(Marketwire - Apr 25, 2012) - Startup Indiana, a statewide effort to support the growth of startups throughout Indiana, will officially launch this evening in Indianapolis at a kickoff party hosted by Verge. Startup Indiana is the latest Startup Region collaborating with the Startup America Partnership, the national movement focused on providing startups access to the corporations, investors, and services that help young companies grow.

"Entrepreneurs in Indiana are diverse and dynamic, and we all come from different backgrounds -- with unique experiences and expertise," said Matt Hunckler, Startup Indiana champion. "Startup Indiana will serve a crucial role in connecting the dots between industries, redefining business models, and disrupting the status quo."

By leveraging the Startup America Partnership's national network, Indiana's entrepreneurs will gain access to business resources throughout the state and country, enabling them to grow faster, be more competitive and create more jobs. Startup Indiana has already started assembling commitments from a wide range of companies and organizations to provide assistance to entrepreneurs in the following areas:

  • Expertise: Connect entrepreneurs with training, mentors, advisors and accelerators
  • Services: Provide entrepreneurs access to critical services at reduced costs
  • Talent: Assist entrepreneurs in recruiting and training the people that can help them grow
  • Customers: Help to scale startups through new and existing markets
  • Capital: Highlight sources of capital available to entrepreneurs in various regions and sectors

The kickoff event will provide the opportunity to learn more about entrepreneurial opportunities in Indiana, connect with founders focused on growing their businesses, and check out the dozen companies demonstrating in expo hall. It will take place in a vacant 100,000 sq. foot office park building provided by partners Jones Lang Lasalle and Prologis and will feature keynotes from co-founder of ExactTarget and Compendium, Chris Baggott, and Scott Case, CEO of the Startup America Partnership.

"I had the pleasure of experiencing first-hand Indiana's amazing startup scene when I came out for the Super Bowl," said Case. "I'm incredibly excited to see the local startups, large companies and entrepreneurial leaders come together though Startup Indiana to make it an even better place to start and grow a company and encourage all startups in the state to join today."
