State Architect Group Recognizes Edward McCrary, FAIA, With Lifetime Achievement Award

The American Institute of Architects, California Council, (AIACC) Announces Recipient of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award for Distinguished Service

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - Nov 18, 2010) - The American Institute of Architects, California Council (AIACC), announces Edward McCrary, FAIA, as the 2011 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is presented to an individual in recognition of outstanding contributions to the improvement of the built environment and the architectural profession, as well as for the contributions to the lives of the clients and citizens served by the profession of architecture.

Edward McCrary, FAIA, has built a truly extraordinary architectural legacy. His tireless mentoring and teaching of young colleagues, his accomplishments and character are just a few of the traits that have contributed to the duration of his career and have added to the depth of affection from those with whom he has worked. Not only a remarkable person, but a successful architect as well. His perspective of excellence in design, the scope and diversity of his projects and the versatility of his skills have greatly impacted the profession and the organizations he has served.

For more than 50 years, McCrary has dedicated his professional life to California architecture. One of his most celebrated projects is the San Francisco Airport International Terminal where his unprecedented level of design and understanding of structural engineering is a great example of his impressive design skills. In addition to his talent, he also personally redefines success, and challenges those around him to re-examine their own potential.

McCrary is a pioneer in the evolution of architectural project delivery methods. He has worked diligently with the legal profession, his clients, and other construction professionals in redefining this integrated practice model. His contributions have helped make significant strides in development of an entirely new delivery process.

McCrary is a teacher, and for those he has taught, it has changed their careers. When young architects are asked about their experience as one of his students, the replies are universal, "He is one of the toughest, and smartest people I have ever met."
