State of Arizona Passes Groundbreaking Immigration Reform Bill 2779 - Employers Seek Help Processing New Hires to Avoid Heavy Fines

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - December 18, 2007) - State law mandates as of January, 1 2008 all Arizona employers verify that every employee is legally permitted to work in the United States through use of the Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify System and proper Form I-9 completion.

Many background screening service providers have partnered with i9 Advantage LLC to provide eVerification, a Form I-9 processing, storage and verification service. Located at the web site, eVerification offers Electronic Employment Verification (EEV) through a process that is inexpensive, accurate, and tailored for resellers looking to integrate Form I-9 processing into their current services. The eVerification service makes Form I-9 compliance easy for employers, which can help save thousands to millions in government fines and penalties if audited.

"Now that Electronic Employment Verification is state mandated in Arizona, businesses of all sizes are looking for a simple and cost effective way to comply with the new law. We have partnerships with background screening service providers all over the nation to provide our service to their customers. Within seconds employers can complete, verify, store and audit I-9 Forms," said Eric Madden, president of i9 Advantage LLC.

Although the government does provide the online E-Verify system for I-9 compliance, it puts employers in a position of risk because of weaknesses in the system. It does not check for all Form I-9 fields for entry errors, duplicate fraudulent Social Security Numbers, and does not store or help employers complete I-9 Forms.

"You can count on the fact that the government is serious about cracking down on illegal immigrants in the U.S. workforce. The Form I-9, along with harsh government fines and escalating arrests are the government's way of showing they mean business. Arizona companies need to immediately implement an I-9 verification program to avoid complicated, potentially costly problems," explained Eric Bort of i9 Advantage LLC.

The choice for business owners is simple; comply with the law or run the risk of high penalties and business license suspension from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
