Statement From Calgary Homeless Foundation: Update Regarding Water Line Break at Affordable Housing Complex

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2011) - Yesterday afternoon, a water line that goes into an affordable housing complex for families broke, flooding the lower level of one building.

As a safety precaution, the buildings were evacuated, and tenants were provided with housing at a nearby hotel.

Repairs were done through the night, and City inspectors have now advised tenants can return to the building.

The Calgary Homeless Foundation recognizes what an inconvenience this was to all tenants, especially those in the flooded suites.

We are currently assessing the damage to determine the repairs and timing.

We're working closely with tenants in the flooded units to provide temporary accommodations and support, and see that they return to safe, secure housing as soon as possible.
