Statement by Herve Dery, Acting Librarian and Archivist of Canada, on the Sudden Passing of Lac Employee Karen Krzyzewski, in Yesterday's Tragic Accident in Ottawa

GATINEAU, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Sept. 19, 2013) - It was with great sadness that we at Library and Archives Canada learned last night of the sudden and tragic passing of Karen Krzyzewski, one of our employees.

She was one of the victims of the collision between an Ottawa city bus and a Via Rail train near Woodroffe Avenue and Fallowfield Road.

Ms. Krzyzewski was an electronic publications acquisitions assistant, and had worked at LAC for 28 years. She was a dedicated, knowledgeable and experienced employee who will be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues at the institution.

The staff and management of Library and Archives Canada would like to express their sincere condolences to Ms. Krzyzewski's family and friends, and to the families of the other victims of this tragedy.
