Statement by the Honourable Bal Gosal, Minister of State (Sport), on the Closing Ceremony of the Regina 2014 North American Indigenous Games

REGINA, SASKATCHEWAN--(Marketwired - July 26, 2014) - As the Regina 2014 North American Indigenous Games officially come to a close, I would like to offer my heartfelt congratulations to all participants and, in particular, to the athletes and artists for their outstanding contribution to these Games.

We have seen an absolutely magnificent celebration these past few days-a celebration of fair play and the cultural diversity of North America's Indigenous peoples. Most importantly, they showcased the extraordinary vitality of Indigenous young people.

Thousands of young Indigenous athletes from Canada and the United States made these Games an event to remember.

Our Government is proud to support the hosting of the Regina 2014 Games. Along with all Canadians across the country, we congratulate all the participants on their remarkable achievements and celebrate their contributions to the world of sport.
