Statement by the Honourable Denis Lebel on the Parliamentary Budget Officer's Report on Tolling Revenue Forecasts of the New Bridge for the St. Lawrence

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Sept. 17, 2014) - Infrastructure Canada

I have today received a copy of the Parliamentary Budget Officer's report on the tolling revenue forecasts of the New Bridge for the St. Lawrence. We are reviewing this report with interest. The New Bridge for the St. Lawrence will be built as a public-private partnership to provide best value for money for Canadian taxpayers and to ensure that the project will be delivered on time and on budget. We are committed to having the New Bridge for the St. Lawrence in service by December 2018 and to having the remainder of the corridor project, including the reconstruction of Autoroute 15 and the new Île des Sœurs Bridge, completed by December 2020. The final project costs will only be determined once the procurement process is completed and the private partner responsible for delivering the project is announced in late April 2015. The New Bridge will be a great asset to the greater Montréal region.

The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec
