Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of the 25th Annual Prix Gemeaux

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 19, 2010) - A vibrant television industry contributes to the strength of this country's economy and builds our national pride. Our Government recognizes the importance of arts and culture to our communities, our identity, and our economy. We are proud to invest in a variety of programs and tax credits that promote programming that reflects a Canadian perspective on the world in which we live.

The Prix Gémeaux celebrate the accomplishments and excellence in Canada's French-language programming. They provide a showcase for the television industry to recognize its most talented creators and pay tribute to its finest works, which are appreciated by audiences in Canada and around the world.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate the winners and commend the nominees of this year's Prix Gémeaux. I would also like to thank the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television for putting quality Canadian programming in the spotlight.
