Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Passing of Al Kozlik

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 13, 2011) - It is with great sadness that I learned of the death of Al Kozlik.

Mr. Kozlik, born in Welland, Ontario, 76 years ago, was a familiar presence on such Canadian stages as the Shaw Festival, as he was a member of its acting ensemble for 28 years, performing up until the 2010 season. He also performed in various theatres across Canada, including the Stratford Theatre Festival, the Vancouver Playhouse, Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, Theatre New Brunswick in Fredericton, and the Citadel Theatre in Edmonton. In addition to appearing on the stage, he appeared on Canadian television series, including The Beachcombers, Night Heat, and Due South.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I offer my sincere condolences to the family and friends of Al Kozlik.
