Statement by the Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister Responsible for FedNor

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Nov. 22, 2011) - The Honourable Tony Clement, President of the Treasury Board and Minister responsible for FedNor, today issued the following statement following the release of the Interim Auditor General of Canada's 2011 Fall Report:

"I welcome the release of the Interim Auditor General's 2011 Fall Report. The Government shares his commitment to ensuring that effective and efficient services are provided to Canadians.

Canadians can be assured that we take the Interim Auditor General's recommendations seriously and we will act on them. We are pleased that, for the second time, the Auditor General has provided the Government with strong marks on the delivery of the Economic Action Plan. This is further confirmation of the success of the Economic Action Plan in stimulating the economy.

My officials at the Treasury Board Secretariat are following up on the Economic Action Plan audit recommendations to ensure that we continue to provide strong advice and guidance in the design of similar programs.

I would also like to take the opportunity to thank John Wiersema for his service as Interim Auditor General and as Deputy Auditor General prior to that. Mr. Wiersema's 33-year career with the Office of the Auditor General has contributed greatly to its work, and to the service of Parliament and Canadians."
