Statement by the Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover on Canadian Films at the 67th Cannes Film Festival

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - April 23, 2014) - Canada continues to impress as three more Canadian films have been selected to compete at the Cannes Film Festival in May. It will be a tremendous year for Canadian filmmakers at Cannes as the international film community continues to celebrate and recognize Canadian artists.

I would like to congratulate the following talented Canadians for their respective nominations:

Stéphane Lafleur for Tu dors Nicole, Director's Fortnight

Marie-Josée St-Pierre for Jutra, Director's Fortnight

Rémi St-Michel for Petit frère, International Critic's Week

This announcement follows last week's historic moment when three Canadian filmmakers were revealed to be part of the Official Selection for the Palm d'Or: David Cronenberg for Maps to the Stars, Xavier Dolan for Mommy, and Atom Egoyan for Captives (The Captive).

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to wish all the nominees the best of luck at the 67th Cannes Film Festival.
