Statement by Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of Les Eloizes

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 5, 2014) -

Acadian and Francophone artists delighted audiences with their talent and innovation at the 13th edition of Les Éloizes, which were just held in Fredericton for the first time.

Every two years, Les Éloizes celebrate the excellence of professional Acadian and Francophone artists in a variety of disciplines through diverse performances and an awards show.

Arts and culture contribute to our communities, both culturally and economically. Our Government is pleased to support events such as Les Éloizes that recognize and celebrate the vitality of Acadian and Francophone culture.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I congratulate the finalists and award recipients who have been recognized at Les Éloizes for their achievements in providing high-quality artistic experiences to the people of Atlantic Canada and beyond. I also commend the Association acadienne des artistes professionnel.le.s du Nouveau-Brunswick and its partners for their important work in nurturing the development of the arts in Acadian and Francophone communities.
