Status Solutions' CATIE Self-Service Technology Recognized by the Assisted Living Federation of America

Solution Enables Senior Living Communities to Deliver Custom Amenities to Enhance Residents' Daily Lives, Streamline Business Processes, and Reduce Administrative Costs

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA--(Marketwire - May 16, 2012) - Status Solutions today announced that its CATIE (Communication and Access to Information Everywhere) self-service technology has been recognized by the Assisted Living Federation of America (ALFA) as part of the ALFA 2012 Best of the Best Awards as a Program to Watch. The awards program recognizes advancing excellence in senior living.

CATIE is a multimedia application for two-way communication and self-service. It functions as an intercom, message center, electronic bulletin board and concierge to help seniors stay connected to the world around them for a better quality of life. The solution also enables senior living communities to design and deliver amenities customized to reflect their unique brands and services. These include the ability to:

  • Review menus and make dining reservations
  • Schedule activities and view a personalized calendar
  • Make maintenance requests
  • Notify housekeeping of cleaning and supply needs
  • Respond to surveys

Communities that deploy CATIE can streamline their business processes and reduce expenses. Digitizing menus and activity calendars not only saves trees but also eliminates those printing costs and enables staff to update information on demand. New revenue streams also can be established through CATIE's Green Pages, a directory of local resources. Medical practices, restaurants, salons and other businesses pay for listings because they appreciate the societal impact and value access to a growing demographic with a lot of buying power.

"We're excited that CATIE has been recognized by ALFA as a technology that can enhance the daily lives of seniors," says Mike MacLeod, president of Status Solutions and CATIE's inventor. "Like the ATM revolutionized banking, CATIE is ushering in automated self-service for seniors who are growing more accustomed to technology and expect amenity sets that help them maintain a comfortable, active lifestyle. This solution can improve the quality of seniors' lives and help senior living communities take service delivery and care to new levels."

"We have the honor to spread the good news about remarkable resident-centered programs fulfilling every aspect of senior-living operations, from wellness services to staff development," said Richard P. Grimes, president and CEO of ALFA. "All of this year's entries speak to the high standard of innovation and professionalism among our members and demonstrate their resourcefulness and ingenuity."

Program submissions were judged for their uniqueness in the industry, innovative use of ideas from outside the industry, impact on residents, their families, staff and operations, the strength of quantitative and qualitative results and strategic vision. One Program to Watch is being recognized in each of the eight categories of business excellence. Programs receiving this recognition have potential in the future to make a big impact in senior living.

CATIE, as well as other programs, are recognized in the May/June issue of Senior Living Executive at Status Solutions is demonstrating the CATIE solution at booth No 917 at COMMUNITY 2012, the ALFA Conference & Expo, May 16-18 in Dallas. Learn more at
