Sterling Commerce Receives Logistics Awards in China

Recognition Validates Company's Expansion of Its Business-to-Business Integration Solutions in China

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - December 16, 2008) - Sterling Commerce, an AT&T Inc (NYSE: T) company, today announced that it has received two awards in China for logistics and supply chain innovation. The company won the 2008 Excellence in Logistics Solution Service Provider - Innovative Award, presented at the 2008 Asia Logistics & Supply Chain Management Summit Shanghai on October 29. The company was named Best Logistics Software Supplier at the sixth China Freight Industry Awards on November 13.

The 2008 Excellence in Logistics Solution Service Provider - Innovative Award is given to the logistics software company demonstrating innovation in supply chain management and logistics solutions, based on surveys and audits conducted at CeMAT Asia, a leading manufacturing trade fair, by Hanover Fairs International, World Logistics Development and Promotion Organization and China Logistics Association. Touted as the Oscars of the logistics industry, the China Freight Industry Awards are presented by the China Communications and Transportation Association (CCTA) and Chengdu Municipal Government and are considered the benchmark for logistics and supply chain management standards and service.

"China's trade and export ranks fourth in the global economy," said Phil Smith, vice president, Sterling Collaboration Network Product Line, at Sterling Commerce. "To thrive, Chinese businesses must continue to boost operational efficiencies through process automation, better supply chain integration and improved visibility. Sterling Commerce -- with our innovative community management, on-boarding and multi-enterprise service-oriented architecture approach to business process integration -- is uniquely positioned to deliver those capabilities."

Sterling Commerce entered the China market five years ago and has been growing its business annually. These awards reflect the investment Sterling Commerce has made in the country, especially in the past year with its introduction of Sterling Collaboration Network (SCN), the company's hosted service that provides secure connectivity and collaboration between businesses. With this solution, more companies will be able to securely and reliably exchange business documents, making it simpler to automate the processes they share with customers, partners and suppliers, thereby increasing their competitiveness and productivity.

Sterling Commerce also strengthened its presence in China by selecting eCOM Shanghai as its sole representative there. In June 2008, eCOM Shanghai established a business-to-business/electronic data interchange (B2B/EDI) platform in Shanghai's Wai Gao Qiao Free Trade Zone Administration with Sterling Commerce. With Sterling Collaboration Network in place at the Wai Gao Qiao hub, companies can now share information with other VANs such as those in North America and Europe, thus increasing the business opportunities and their logistics network exponentially. This network, which also provides connections to more than 90 other public and private networks, China's logistics and supply chain companies can link up with more than 280,000 companies around the globe and link directly to American and Canadian sea and land customs agencies.

Sterling Collaboration Network simplifies trading partner relationships by eliminating all paper-based transactions and providing end-to-end visibility and control over the business processes shared with outside companies. Today it manages as many as 4.5 million B2B documents per day with more than 99.9 percent reliability, allowing customers, vendors and suppliers to reliably integrate their electronic processing. For trading partner integration, Sterling Commerce offers Gentran Integration Suite™, a unified, single platform that enables businesses to meet requirements for a wide range of global and industry-specific EDI- and XML-based standards, integrate business processes from the trading partner to the back office, and automate and streamline trading partner on-boarding and management.
