Steven M. Tredinnick Joins Burns & McDonnell

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - Oct 25, 2013) -  Steven M. Tredinnick, PE, CEM, has joined Burns & McDonnell as Senior Project Manager for the company's Onsite Energy & Power Group. Tredinnick will be located with the Onsite Energy team in Burns & McDonnell's Chicago Region, focusing primarily on medical center, airport and university clients.

A published author and frequent speaker, Tredinnick is a recognized industry leader advocating for increased reliance on district energy facilities as a vital component of enhanced energy security, efficiency and grid stability. Tredinnick previously was Vice President of Services at Syska Hennessy Group.

With more than 30 years experience in HVAC and district energy systems, Tredinnick has consulted and led project teams on some of the largest and most innovative central utility and district energy projects in North America. A few recent notable projects include:

• The central utility plant replacement at Los Angeles World Airport (LAX). This project featured installation of more than 22,000 tons of electrical and steam driven chillers, two natural gas turbine generators totaling 4-megawatts, with fresh-air-fired heat recovery steam generators each capable of providing 43,000 lbs.-per-hour of steam.
• Development of the utilities master plan for the University of Chicago. As consultant to the university, Tredinnick prepared and updated all campus thermal utility maps among other technical documents and served as project manager for the final master plan.
• System upgrades to steam lines and chilled water improvements at the district energy plant serving the University of California-Davis. As project manager, Tredinnick oversaw a series of large-scale infrastructure improvements to the utilities serving multiple building on the UC-Davis campus. 

Other notable projects include utility infrastructure improvements for the University of Wisconsin, City University of New York, Abbot Labs, Scripps Research Institute and large cooling projects in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. During the course of his career, Tredinnick has led dozens of project teams responsible for more than 375,000 tons of chilled water plants.

Tredinnick is past president of the Minnesota Chapter, American Society of Heating, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and has chaired various ASHRAE standards committees related to district energy and steam heating systems. He also is a member and former director of the International District Energy Association (IDEA) and current contributing columnist to District Energy magazine. He is a licensed professional engineer in Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, Texas and Wisconsin and is credentialed as a Certified Energy Manager by the Association of Energy Engineers. He received his Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering from Pennsylvania State University - University Park.
