Stibo Catalog Announces Availability of Step V 4.7-Enhanced Product Content Management and Multi-Channel Publishing

ATLANTA and AARHUS, Denmark--(CCNMatthews - Sep 7, 2005) -

Includes Support for Adobe InDesign and Functionality for Enhanced Creative Publishing; Support of Webdav Technology; a Redesigned Web Client; and an Updated Database/Server Platform Using IBM Websphere

Stibo Catalog announced today the commercial availability of STEP 4.7 - the next generation of its product content management and publishing solution for product- and catalog-centric businesses.

STEP 4.7 includes support for Adobe® InDesign™ CS2 for both Macintosh and PC. Marketing professionals can now publish promotions directly from STEP's product information management (PIM) module, which means they have greater creative design control. The intuitive plug-in allows InDesign users access to STEP via a native palette. STEP takes advantage of some of InDesign's advanced features including layers for version publishing and multi-lingual publishing.

Simon Walker, STEP Product Manager commented: "Our customers are used to being able to publish fast and reliably using the STEP Publication Manager. We have added enhanced creative control for catalog professionals with our plug-in for Adobe InDesign, which allows users to publish from STEP PIM. STEP is providing additional benefits for mail order businesses as well as marketers who are looking to supplement catalogs with creative smaller promotions."

STEP now supports WebDAV, a standardized protocol based on http, which allows users with access privileges to browse the product hierarchy. With WebDAV, non standard users can access STEP without the requirement of a full-user license.

The STEP Web client is now even more user-friendly and offers product managers enhanced capabilities to view, edit, and cross-reference classification links.

The new optional STEPtrade module enables users to efficiently create and deliver high volume and high frequency e-catalogs to any e-procurement applications. The tool is designed to allow users to respond rapidly to changing demand and deliver updated product information and pricing within hours rather than days or weeks.

STEP 4.7 is based on J2EE technology using the IBM Websphere application server. "Websphere is the most commonly requested application server by our customers' IT departments. As STEP is sitting side-by-side other enterprise applications, it is important for it to easily integrate with these applications," said Bjarne Hald, Development Manager for STEP.

STEP 4.7 range of other enhancements, include:

-- STEP Web Services API for faster integration with SAP NetWeaver and other applications

-- A new easy-to-operate java based interface in STEP Publication Manager for system setup and template management

-- New capabilities in the STEP PIM module

-- STEP Web Publisher for efficient support of web sites including incremental deliveries from STEP PIM

-- Drag and drop capabilities to structure tree hierarchies with products, classifications and assets

-- Enhanced filter options in tables based on column content for faster and more accurate searching

For businesses that are improving their business processes by pursuing a content strategy, STEP lets them aggregate raw product information from disparate sources in a central data repository, enrich and manage the product content, and deliver consistent marketing content smoothly through multiple channels - including electronic and print media.

STEP includes a true multi-channel publishing engine, and gives users the flexibility to decide how to market consistent messages through the communication channel of choice. The solution supports delivery of e-catalogs, web-content, CD-ROM, as well as printed promotions ranging from flyers to brochures and catalogs.

Its unique language management capabilities make STEP an optimal solution for manufacturers, distributors and retailers who operate on global scale.
