After The Bell Market Commentary

On Monday, U.S. light sweet crude for July delivery settled 51 cents higher, up more than 1 percent, at $49.16 a barrel. Citing the record U. S. trade deficit, economists predicted that the economy would grow by 3.4% in 2005, down from an earlier projection of 3.6% growth. The markets continued to climb in the afternoon to close higher. The Dow Jones closed up 51.65 points, or 0.5%, at 10,523.56. The Nasdaq Composite added 10.23 points, or 0.5%, to close at 2,056.65. The S&P 500 rose 4.58 points, or 0.4%, to 1,193.86. The Russell 2000 rose 3 points to 613. U.S. stocks extended their rally to a second week.
