These are...Rug Designs?

Photo and Story Opportunity

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 15, 2011) - DAREarts, an innovative charity for Canadian kids, will once again be the beneficiary of the proceeds from the second annual ERA Rug Design Competition. The winning rugs will be unveiled at a special reception on March 31, media and photos, 5:15 event to follow 6-8 pm at the Weavers Art Contemporary Culture, 162 Bedford Rd., Toronto.

These creative names belong to rugs designed by five exceptional teen winners as selected by a team of judges, including John Tong of 3rd UNCLE. The first exclusive 4x6 weave of these designs will be unveiled as a collector's item and auctioned off at 7 pm. Additional productions of each rug will be available in a limited edition through orders.

This ERA design competition was launched in 2009 with the challenge going out to Canadian high school students in 2010 as a way to discover emerging talent while raising funds and awareness of DAREarts, a Canadian charity that empowers at-risk kids through the arts.

All of the 5 finalists are to be congratulated on their efforts. One, Anna Kan, is a recent graduate of the DAREarts program and is still actively involved in the D2A grads program. Anna's love for painting and pottery allows her to express herself through visual arts; this matches the DAREarts vision: DAREarts 'dares' children to communicate through music, dance, drama, visual arts, architecture, fashion and literature. Through these activities, children build their self-confidence, courage and life skills that empower them to reach their potential. Please visit DAREarts at www.darearts.com.

Marilyn Field, Founder of DAREarts states, "It is through partnerships with insightful corporations like Weavers Art and their ERA Rug Competition that our Canadian youth can have the tools they need to ignite positive change in their lives."
