Strangeloop Networks Inc.: Apdex Alliance Welcomes Two New Global Members

Strangeloop Networks and Macro 4 Join Group, Deriving Benefits from Apdex Reporting

PISCATAWAY, NEW JERSEY--(Marketwire - April 21, 2008) - The Application Performance Index (Apdex) Alliance today announced that two new global companies, Strangeloop Networks™ Inc., and Macro 4 have joined the group, as contributing members. The Alliance, comprised of nine industry-leading companies and over 800 performance practitioners worldwide, was formed as an open movement to ensure Apdex, an index that measures user satisfaction with the performance of enterprise applications, provides high value to organizations.

Apdex Alliance executive director Peter Sevcik, says, "We are very pleased to extend the alliance internationally with new members in Canada and the UK. Strangeloop brings Apdex reporting to the growing community of Microsoft ASP.NET applications, while Macro 4 is a leading measurement vendor of application performance management solutions. These vendors will expand the availability of Apdex reporting to new markets."

"The Apdex Alliance gives IT managers valuable insight into the strengths and potential weaknesses of their IT infrastructure, allowing them to more easily remedy issues and more closely align their investments based on their business objectives," said Sevcik. "Strangeloop Networks and Macro 4 are innovative global organizations and contribute to the power of our Alliance. Their enterprise customers soon will be able to realize the benefits of aligning IT and business objectives using the Apdex performance index."

Strangeloop Networks' AS1000 Application Scaling Appliance was designed to accelerate dynamic web applications developed with Microsoft ASP.NET by putting application data traffic at line speed through a series of caching and acceleration techniques, optimizing data handling in real-time. This in turn significantly improves the performance and scalability of the application without changes to hardware coding or software infrastructure. Strangeloop's AS1000 appliance includes performance analysis capabilities to allow network managers to monitor the web application performance from the browser perspective. Apdex reports will enhance this user-centric performance monitoring in Strangeloop's AS1000 appliance.

"The AS1000 has had tremendous success in accelerating and scaling web applications for Microsoft's ASP.NET framework through its heuristic caching and payload reduction features," said Jonathan Bixby, chief executive officer of Strangeloop. "With the Apdex reporting features in the Strangeloop appliance, network managers can now easily see if their web applications are meeting the expectations of their users. As the Apdex reports show satisfaction levels on per web task or web page, network managers can more easily spot and rectify potential bottlenecks, ultimately giving users a better experience, while providing clearer ROI results to management."

"Macro 4's participation in the Apdex alliance, and the addition of Apdex reporting to our products, will allow us to deliver much better visibility of real end-user experience to our customers. As a company, we put our users at the heart of what we do; Apdex will help our customers to do the same," said Alan Ackers, Product Manager, Application Performance Solutions at Macro 4.

Alliance members include: Akamai, Gomez, Juniper Networks, Keynote Systems, Macro 4, NetForecast, Packeteer, Strangeloop, and WildPackets.
