StrataLight Communications Expands Product Portfolio With Family of 40Gbps, 300 Pin Modules

Subsystem Experience Translated Into Complete Modular Solution

LOS GATOS, CA--(Marketwire - February 25, 2008) - StrataLight Communications, Inc. (StrataLight), the market leader in commercial deployment of 40 Gbps optical transmission subsystems, today announced the offering of its OTM-4xx family of 300 pin MSA products, a complete line of modules for customer designs of 40 Gbps line cards.

"Similar to our approach with 40Gbps subsystems, we are developing a complete suite of 40 Gbps modules that enable system manufacturers to very quickly assemble line cards that fit in their own systems," commented David Sykes, VP Sales & Marketing for StrataLight.

StrataLight has partitioned the functions of Optical High Capacity transponders into Optical Modulators & Demodulators (oMODEMs), Framer and Forward Error Correction Encoders & Decoders (CODECs) and Optical Impairment Compensators.

The 40 Gbps 300 pin MSA product family includes:

(i)   OTM-440-DSPK (OC-768/STM-256, OTU3, 44Gbps "overclocked") compliant
      40Gbps  DPSK encoded line oMODEM for ultra long reach ( > 1000km);
(ii)  OTM-440-PSBT (OC-768/STM-256, OTU3, 44 Gbps "overclocked") compliant
      40Gbps  PSBT encoded line oMODEM for long reach ( < 1000km);
(iii) OTM-400-NRZ (OC-768/STM-256, or OTU3 ) compliant 40Gbps NRZ encoded
      client oMODEM for very short reach ( < 2km);
(iv)  OTM-450 fully standards compliant (OC-768/STM-256, OTU3, 44Gbps
      "overclocked") client and line FEC and 40Gbps framer encoder,
(v)   OTM-411 fully standards compliant (OC-768/STM-256, OTU3, 44Gbps
      "overclocked," OTU2, OC-192/STM-64, 10GE LAN/WAN) compliant 4x10Gbps
      to 40Gbps line FEC multiplexing and framing encoder and decoder;
(vi) OTM-452 Lossless Tunable Dispersion Compensator; and
(vii) OTM-454 Polarization Mode Dispersion Compensator.

StrataLight's 40Gbps modules are designed to comply with industry standards as well as seamlessly integrate with each other to provide equivalent functionality to StrataLight's field-proven OTS-4000 subsystem products. Like the OTS-4000, these products enable deployment over existing optical line systems with dispersion maps designed for 10Gbps, support 50 or 100GHz spaced DWDM systems and operate with Optically Reconfigurable Optical Add Drop Multiplexers (ROADMs).

StrataLight is committed to providing fully integrated complete devices, which lower the development costs and complexity of adopting spectrally efficient transmission technologies. StrataLight will continue to address demand for these products and respond to customer requirements for technologically advanced, cost effective solutions that fit their applications.

The Company will be exhibiting at OFC/NFOEC 2008. StrataLight representatives will be at Booth 212 located in Hall B1 from February 26-28, 2008.
