Strategic Facility Planner Joins BSA LifeStructures' St. Louis Office

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - October 20, 2009) - Cindy Beckham was hired in early October by BSA LifeStructures as a strategic facility planner. Her passion for improving the quality of healthcare environments was a key reason she was drawn to BSA LifeStructures, a nationally recognized architecture/engineering firm specializing in healing, learning and discovery market segments.

Beckham received her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Communications and Theater Arts from Monmouth College and proceeded to earn her Master of Architecture from Washington University. She is an experienced presenter within the world of healthcare architecture, as she has spoken at conferences and been published numerous times within the past eight years for organizations including the Agency for Healthcare Administration, American Society of Healthcare Engineers, Design & Construction, Medical Construction & Design and The Health Care Advisory Board.

Beckham's strategic facility planning work has ranged from projects involving master plans, heart hospitals, women's centers, patient towers and neonatal intensive care units. She has largely focused her career on researching healthcare elements and helping to develop creative solutions with clients; meeting the needs of caregivers and patients alike.

Beckham states that, "With over 12 years of practice in healthcare planning, I have experienced first-hand how healthcare environments and practice can truly be enhanced through architectural design and thoughtful planning. I feel it is critical to broadly share innovative ideas with design professionals, who can then better respond to patient and caregiver expectations and improve the outcomes for all architectural and planning clients."

In an effort to share her architectural healthcare knowledge with the design community, Beckham has twice been a guest lecturer for St. Louis University's School of Public Health, sharing information on "Strategic Facility Planning for Healthcare." She was also a 2008 juror for the American Association of Landscape Architects' Minnesota Chapter Awards.

Kevin Token, Regional Director for BSA LifeStructures' St. Louis office, described Beckham as "a welcome addition to the firm, whose knowledge and collaborative approach to strategic facility planning will benefit clients in many ways. We are thrilled to have Cindy as part of our growing office in St. Louis. Her passion for healthcare architecture coupled with a strong desire to share her knowledge truly helps clients make informed strategic decisions."
