Stratfor Appoints Software Industry Veteran as New CEO

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - May 04, 2016) -  Stratfor, a leading geopolitical intelligence platform, today announced that Dave Sikora has been appointed as the organization's new chief executive officer. Sikora joined the firm in November as Executive Chairman through an investment by Teakwood Capital, and takes over as CEO for Shea Morenz, who will continue his role as an advisor and member of Stratfor's board of directors.

"With the Teakwood investment, Stratfor is in a strong position, and Dave has the experience and vision to lead the firm to new horizons," said Morenz, who served as CEO since 2012. "I have enjoyed working intimately with him these past months and truly respect his expertise and enthusiasm for the work we do at Stratfor."

A software industry veteran and mobile application pioneer, Sikora is the former CEO and founder of Austin, Texas-based Digby, which built the first mobile application storefronts for 50 major brands. He serves on advisory boards for several successful Texas companies, including Kony, Inc., an enterprise mobility firm, and TDECU, the fourth-largest credit union in Texas. Sikora now brings that broad range of executive leadership and technology experience to his new role at Stratfor.

"For over 20 years, Stratfor has delivered world-class analysis and insights to globally engaged professionals and companies around the world, creating a unique media platform that can be expanded with emerging digital technologies," Sikora said. "I look forward to leveraging my experience and relationships in the technology industry to begin transforming Stratfor at the intersection of publishing and software as a service."

Sikora earned his Bachelor of Science in Technology from the University of Houston and his MBA from Harvard Business School. He was honored as Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year for Technology during his tenure at the ForeFront Group, which was the first internet software IPO in the state of Texas in 1995.

Stratfor welcomes Sikora as the firm celebrates 20 years of industry-leading geopolitical analysis, forecasting and strategic insight to help both clients and subscribers better understand global developments, anticipate opportunities and manage risk.
