Stratfor's Mark Schroeder to Present at Nigeria Development and Finance Forum

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwired - May 22, 2014) - Stratfor Vice President of Africa Analysis Mark Schroeder will discuss Nigeria's economy, political instability and volatile security situation in his upcoming keynote presentation at the 2014 Nigeria Development and Finance Forum (NDFF).

The annual NDFF conference provides policymakers, business leaders and private equity and venture capital investors with comprehensive briefings outlining the future of Nigeria as Africa's frontier emerging market.

Stratfor's Schroeder is an expert on political and security affairs in Africa and is regularly featured by global news media for his geopolitical analysis and commentary on the region. His NDFF presentation will cover Nigeria's February 2015 election, considered by Schroeder and other geopolitical observers as the country's most critical election since the transition to democracy in 1999. Schroeder also will address the country's burgeoning economy, as well as the multiple security concerns currently facing Nigeria.

"The two main security threats in Nigeria are Boko Haram and the Niger Delta militants, and the political environment next year likely will escalate each group's activities," said Schroeder. "President Goodluck Jonathan's pursuit of an additional term in 2015 has imperiled Nigeria's political power-sharing model, triggering instability and resulting in significant concerns for the country's political and security climates. In countries like Nigeria, militancy is often a byproduct of political strife."

The 2014 Nigeria Development and Finance Forum takes place May 29-31 in New York City.
